Mr. Dixon was the son of Brewer and Corinne Bailey Dixon and grandson of the late C.M. and Eloise Bailey.He spent his childhood in both Clinton and Talladega, Alabama.A graduate of Episcopial High in Alexandria, Virginia and Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned a bachelor of textile engineering. He served in the United States Navy touring Japan,China and Korea as an Ensign and Paymaster. He became a registered professional engineer while beginning his industrial career at Clinton Mills in 1955.He served as Director and Vice President of engineering from 1961 to 1979.He was then appointed to Vice President of Engineering and Subsidary Operations until his retirement in 1998.He served on the Board of Directors of Clinton Mills,INC and M.S. Bailey& Son Bankers,both companies his great grandfather established in 1896 and 1886.He was Chairman of Clinton Investment Company and a member of the Bailey Foundation.Mr. Dixon was involved in many community activities including the founding of the Clinton YMCA and the Laurens County Safe Home for Women.He served as a Scoutmaster of Troop 111 and Blue Ridge Council President.He was awarded scouting's highest honor, the Silver Beaver Award.He was Chairman of York Place,Episcopal Home for children.He established the Bailey Dixon Fund for Textile Scholarships at Georgia Tech.In 2002 he was named Citizen of the Year by the Clinton Chronicle.He was awarded the 2006 Spirit of Volunteerism and Philanthropy by the United Way.He was included in the Georgia Tech engineering Hall of Fame, the Episcopal High School Hall of Fame and the 2007 district Tree Farmer of the Year by S.C. Forestry Ass.He served on the Presbryterian College Board of Visitors and was active in both the All Saints Episcopal Church and Kiwanis club
