Elisha Williams was the son of Elisha and Eunice(Williams)Williams of Old Mystic near Stonington. He married Lucy Denison December 22, 1767 the daughter of George and Jane (Smith) Denison of Stonington. Ten children were born in this family between the years 1768 and 1788. Sometime during the 1790s Elisha Williams and family left Connecticut and moved to Albany County, New York, near Knox. Elisha was a sergeant in the revolutionary war having served in Captain William Stanton's (Stonington) Company, 8th Regiment of militia under the command of Colonel Oliver Smith, his wife's uncle.
