Bill served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years as a Corrections Specialist, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1993. He earned seven Good Conduct Medals and a Meritorious Unit Commendation with the Bronze Star during her military service. He also worked for 8 years as a Corrections Officer for the Washington State Department of Corrections, most recently at Cedar Creek. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, dominoes, darts & Bible study - but most of all his family. He attended Hillcrest Assembly of God Church in Bremerton.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Keisha Best of Anchorage, Alaska and Kamille (Michael) Doherty Best of Fort Lewis, Washington; brother William Pat Best of Fremont, California; sisters Frances Jones of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Cedelle Ensley of Jamaica, New York; and grandson Tyler Doherty of Fort Lewis, Washington. He was preceded in death by sister Zenobia.
Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2006 from Noon to 5:00pm and Saturday, July 15, 2006 from 9:00am to Noon at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Funeral service will be Monday, July 17, 2006 at 10:00am, also at Rill's Life Tribute Center, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent on July 17, 2006 at 12:30 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
