Daughter of Jedidiah & Frances (Dusenbury) Howe. Her father was one of the first stereotypists in America. Married Edwin "Ned" Wattson.

When her father died in 1834, she received $10,000 like each of her three sisters.

Caroline & Edwin raised five children to adulthood. Elizabeth, Caroline, Edwin D., Thomas & Evangeline St. Claire. Eva was named for the heroine in Uncle Tom's Cabin.
