CLARKSDALE, Mo. — Luvene Buzzard, 84, Clarksdale, formerly of St. Joseph and Bethany, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 in St. Joseph.
She was born January 24, 1927 in Bloomington, Neb., the daughter of John Ray and Ethel Lillie (Arney) Hickman.
On October 14, 1951, she married Marvin O. Buzzard in Huntsville, Ark. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1974.
Luvene was a cook at Beverly Manor in St. Joseph and a member of King Hill Baptist Church of St. Joseph.
Survivors include a son, John O. (Janet) Buzzard, Shenandoah, Iowa; daughter, Neva L. (Ronnie) Carrell, Clarksdale, Mo.; brothers: Coleman Hickman, Spickard, Mo.; Virgle (Carole) Hickman, Liberty, Mo.; and John D. (Geraldine) Hickman, Liberty, Mo.; sisters: Norma Jean (Junior) Pfiffer, Mercer, Mo.; Velda (Albert) Etheridge, Kansas City, Kan.; and Okema Miller, Gladstone, Mo; three grandsons: John O. Buzzard, Jr., Shenandoah, Iowa; Jason Dean Buzzard, Omaha, Neb.; and Justin Clark Buzzard, Shenandoah, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Jacob John Buzzard and Jillian Louise Buzzard, Shenandoah, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Julia Hickman; and brother-in-law, George Miller.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, Mo. Burial: Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway, Mo. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
