Walter and his wife had a number of children before 1820. They can be found in the Loudoun County, VA with three boys and a girl under the age of ten. The only two I have connected are Upton, born 1815, and Isaac, born 1819, as they are the only two that remained in the vicinity of Zanesville that I know of..
Shortly before 1830, Walter moved to either WV or OH with his family. I had previously thought he moved to Guernsey, however I've since discovered that was a Walter Downey. I cannot find the family in 1830, so it might mean they were moving then. Fornetta's early death, estimated to be about 1830, may have triggered this move.
By the 1840 census, Walter can be found living in Wayne, Muskingum County, OH with just 2-3 children. In 1841, his son Isaac married Rebecca Bowers. Walter can be found living in Wayne with his son and their family for the next thirty plus years, until Walter's death. His son Upton would remain in Guernsey County for twenty years before moving into Zanesville in the 1860s.
There is no known obit, burial or specific date of death for Walter except for pension papers which give a date of death of 1875. I am assuming a virtual burial In Greenwood with the other Downs family members.
