Ruby Lee was daughter of Allen & Maggie Alieen Lee

RUBY CAROL OWINGS , 97, of Memphis, went to see her parents, siblings and the Lord on July 20, 2015. She was the sweetest, most loving woman, and she is now happy and whole, rejoicing with all her loved ones. Her family here on earth will miss her badly but all know she is being loved in Heaven. Ruby, a lifelong Memphian, graduated from Tech High School and business school. She then went to work for Mr. Elli Lilly. Albert and Ruby eloped in 1950 and started their family shortly afterwards. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in February. Along with raising her three children, she was a volunteer for Duration Club and the Daughters of the Nile. She kept busy doing yard work, kids and around the world trips with her family. Ruby made sure her children were raised in the Methodist Church from Galloway Methodist, Mullins Methodist and Germantown Methodist. They all have perfect attendance pins to prove it. When the family moved to Collierville she chose the church that had an early morning service so she could be home in time to fix a large Sunday dinner for the family! She gave her time to the church teaching Sunday school and providing many baked goods. Her large family was also blessed by a birthday cake she made for each family member, cooking their favorite family cake. Ruby sewed clothes for her daughter until she was in elementary school and saw what a bought store outfit looked like. Every baby was blessed to have an outfit and/or blanket she made. She even made covers for her brother's boat. Ruby leaves her husband, Albert Owings ; her children, Al Owings , Cheri Tuncay and Doug Owings ; daughter-in-law, Debra; her loving grandchildren, Cristy Boggan, Melanie Tuncay, Doug Owings Jr., Stephen and Michael Owings , and son-in-law David Boggan; her great-grandchildren Keaton and Weston Boggan brought so much happiness to her. She leaves her loving sister Margaret Richardson, who always looked out for her. The family will gather to receive friends at Germantown United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 22, beginning at 10 a.m., until the Funeral Service begins at 12 p.m. immediately following the service, a reception will be held in the fellowship hall at the church. The family asked in lieu of flowers to make a donation to Germantown United Methodist Church or to the Al Chymia Shrine Temple Transportation Fund, or a charity of their choice. Family Funeral Care (Published in The Commercial Appeal on July 21, 2015)
