Carrol Jean O'Bara, 74, of Waycross died Friday morning at Harborview Satilla after a brief illness. She was born in Bellaire, Ohio to the late Frank Balwanz and Elizabeth Moorehead Balwanz. Carrol worked as a store manager for Flash Foods and most recently worked for Wal-Mart before retiring. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to paint. Carrol always enjoyed trying out new recipes and making creative birthday cakes for her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Carrol is survived by her son, Kenny O'Bara and his wife Megan of Waycross, her daughter, Carina O'Bara and her husband Stacy of Chickamauga, Georgia, three grandchildren, Kenny O'Bara (Emily), Joey Gray, Jacob Hatcher, three brothers, Grant Balwanz, Bob Balwanz and his wife Pat, Chad Balwanz and his wife Janet, one sister, Cathy Lowrey and her husband Greg and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.
