Sam, 7 years old, was born August 27, 1996, in Independence, Mo., and at the time of his death was in the first grade at Fairmount Elementary School. He enjoyed being with people, all kinds of people. He loved the outdoors, playing basketball, and collecting Yu-Gi-Oh cards, playing with Bossie, but most of all he loved his momma. Sam was the brother of Lindsey Porter (Find a grave memorial #21781718).
Bossie, the family bulldog, was just like another member of family, and very protective of them. Bossie would walk Sam and his sister, Lindsey, to school, of course with their dad.
Sam is survived by his loving and caring mother, Tina (Lindsey) Porter of Independence; father, Daniel W. Porter of Cameron, Mo.; grandparents, Rosemary Lindsey of Albuquerque, N.M., Sam Porter of Lakeland, Fla., and Marilyn Emmert of Harrison, Ark.; and 17 aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the Noland Road Baptist Church, Independence. Private interment will follow in Lobb Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, 816-373-3600. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Sam & Lindsey Support Center, 1425 S.
