Ester Ennis Vaughn was born 9 May 1898 in So. Boston VA. She was the wife of Agee Dock Andrew Carter whom was born in Rockingham County NC in 1887. Not much is known of Ester before the 1900's where they settle down in Rockingham County NC and she gave birth to their first child Willie Jet Carter. Together had a total of 13 Children. In the late 1920's the family moved to Alabama and moved onto Danville VA in the late 1930's.
Ester was employed by the Danriver Cotton Mill, spining Room #8. Retired in 1944 and pasted on in September 1971. Not much is known of her early years other than she had a step brother named Clarence Vaughn and that also lived in Eden North Carolina.
