Luis was born on March 21, 1942, in Clemenceau, Arizona. He is the son of Meliton Avalos and Candelaria Negrete Avalos. Luis was one of eight children.
Luis served his country with four years in the United States Navy before starting his career as a Medical Technologist for 42 years at Independence Regional Hospital and then later became Centerpoint Hospital. He was blessed with one grandson, Devon. Luis "Fafa" enjoyed his spare time playing golf, bowling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Luis was preceded in death by his parents, Meliton and Candelaria Avalos; brother, Elias Avalos; and wife, Marilyn K. Avalos.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Marisa Avalos-Viets and husband Bradley Viets; one grandson, Devon; six siblings, Meliton Avalos, Jr. (Cruzita), David Avalos (Mary), Irene Nooney (Jack), Mary Clark (Joe), Ruth Young (Mack) and Lupe Ownby (Steve); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, his extended Viets family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City VA Medical Center 4801 Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64128 or the Multiple Sclerosis Society 7611 Stateline Rd. Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
