Wayne was born November 1, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late Huston Curry and Rosa Ellen Hill Curry. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1963. Wayne served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an AME Hydraulic Mechanic on the USS Enterprise, USS America, and the USS Ranger. Wayne worked for Fluid Power in Memphis, Tennessee for over twenty-five years before retirement. He was a member of the local DAV Chapter #25.
