He was born in Dante, VA, the son of the late Alga and Rosa Clifton.
He moved to Chicago when he was in his 20's, later moving to Ingleside.
He was a nature lover and enjoyed caring for all the neighborhood animals. He loved gardening and music and was an avid clock collector. He was also proud to have obtained his driver's license at the age of 95.
He is survived by his children: Pam (Paul) Ellis Weisshaar and Steven Clifton; grandsons: David Ellis and Rick Ellis; sister, Reva Reeves; former wife, Dorothy Cates; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Arzie Clifton, Raymon Clifton, Essie Cassell, Lill Wood, Dorothy Cassell, and Vernelle Boyd.
A graveside service with military honors at the Plasters Family Cemetery in Vesta, VA, will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
