Amaryllis Miley, 89, died peacefully on October 31, 2020, in Sanford Florida.

She was born Amaryllis Mavis Amend on July 18, 1931 in Eau Claire WI to John and Bessie Amend and attended Memorial High School in Eau Claire. She married William J. (Bill) Miley on May 13, 1950 on Governor's Island, New York. They were married for 58 years and had nine children.

Known to her friends as Marlys, she volunteered as a teacher's aide at St. Peter's School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1973. Two years later, she enrolled at the University of Missouri Kansas City taking night and summer classes while working full-time. By 1980 she had earned a bachelor's degree in education and eight years later she received a master's degree in education. During her career, she held teaching and administrative positions at St. Peter's, and served as principal of two elementary schools, before retiring in 1992. In 1993 she moved to Clinton Missouri, where she joined Holy Rosary Parish, volunteered at Golden Valley Hospital, and formed many lasting relationships. In 2013, she moved to Blue Springs, Missouri, and in 2020 she moved to Sanford Florida to reside with her daughter Margaret Miley.

Marlys loved her large extended family and her circle of friends, with whom she spent countless hours playing cards. She faced the challenges of raising a large family with determination, skill and love, taking great pride in their accomplishments and savoring the time spent with them after she retired.

Her husband Bill Miley, son Martin Miley and daughter Michele Miley preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Mary Ellen Sunseri and husband Tom of Blue Springs, MO; Kathie Williams and husband Paul of Pleasant Hill MO; Laurie Watkins and husband David of Landenberg PA; William Miley Jr of Fort Wayne, IN; Molly Goodrich and husband Charles of Independence MO; Margaret Miley and wife Amy of Sanford FL; and Jonni Nuhn and husband Tony of Kearney MO; as well as 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
