HELEN FAYE NORDAHL Helen Faye Nordahl went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Denver, Colorado. She was 95. Helen was born on March 3, 1922 at Byers, Kansas, the daughter of Fredrick R. and Grace Cammarn Newby. She grew up in Byers, attending school and graduating from Byers High School in 1940. She then moved to Wichita, Ks in 1941 where she was employed as a secretary by Cessna Aircraft Factory. She was united in marriage to Howard Nordahl on June 5, 1943 at Wichita, Ks. They were married for 70 years and blessed with two children, Gary & Deanna. When Howard was called to active military duty in 1944 she moved back to Garfield, Ks and was employed by the Kansas Grain Co. When Howard returned from World War II they moved to Bennett, Co. where they owned and operated Howard's Service until retirement in the 1980's. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Bennett Baptist Church for many years and then became a member of Airport Boulevard Baptist Church in Aurora, Co. She enjoyed traveling, with winter trips to Arizona, a trip to Hawaii, and many camping and fishing trips with her family to the mountains. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking wonderful pies, gardening and flowers. She was a loving and faithful wife and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed. She moved from Bennett in 2012 to Lowry Assisted Living and then in late 2017 to Mountain View Skilled Care in Denver, Co. She is survived by her son, Gary (Ruthie) Nordahl of Watkins, Co; Her daughter, Deanna (Bob) Steele of Ellsworth, Ks; 3 grandsons, Curtis (Tiffanie) Steele of Hutchinson, Ks; Scott (Tera) Steele of Ottawa, Ks and K.C. Nordahl of Highlands Ranch, Co; 5 great-grandchildren, Danielle, Danae, Darrah, Koen and Kaveri. 2 step great-grandchildren, Kagen & Kinlee. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers, Roy, Clarence & Marvin Newby; 2 sisters, Ethel Plowman, Elma Piland, and 1 baby sister who died in infancy. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel on 1095 Havana St, Aurora, Co. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Airport Boulevard Baptist Church, 1000 Airport Boulevard, Aurora, Colorado 80011. Interment will be a Mountview Cemetery, Bennett, Co around 2:45 p.m. Memorials can be given in her name to the church, American Diabetes Assoc., or Denver Hospice Please leave your love for the family by using our on line guest book.
