---La Plata and community was again saddened by the death of one of the esteemed citizens, Milton C. Wright, who died Saturday morning, his death being due to old age. He was ninety-one years and five months old.
---The funeral services were held from the Methodist Church here Monday morning at 10:30, conducted by the pastor, I.M. Cooper. Interment was made in the La Plata cemetery, the I.O.O.F. Lodge having charge of the services at the grave.
---Rev. Milton C. Wright was born October 10, 1834 at Pittston, Pennsylvania; he was the eldest son of Charles and Elizabeth Wright. He married Miss Julia Edgerton on March of 1862 and to this union were born two children, Estella Saltmarsh and Charles Wright. He was married again to Adah Shoemaker on July 9, 1873 and two children were born to this union. George Wright of Sellars, Louisiana and Pearl Shores, Mrs. Shores preceded him in death. In September 1883, he was married to Margaret W. Owenbey and one son, Albert Wright was born of this union. Besides his wife and children, Rev. Wright is survived by one sister, Mrs. Josephine Courtwright of Newark, Illinois and three grandchildren.
---He came to Illinois from Pennsylvania when he was twenty years old and moved to Missouri in 1870, since that time, residing in La Plata.
---He was an ordained minister of the Methodist Church and was active in the ministry for a number of years. He often told of that beautiful ministry of service where he would walk twenty miles to preach, then walk from that place to place between Sundays, performing marriage ceremonies, visiting the sick and often times spending weeks before he reached his home again.
