A.D. "Addie" Mercer, age 84, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Panama City. Ms. Mercer was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Samson, Ala. She was the daughter of the late Deb and Odie Carpenter Thorne. She was a lifelong resident of Red Bay, Fla., and a member of Red Bay Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Mercer; daughter, Janie McCormick; and brother, Mack Thorne. Survivors include her son, Wayne Mercer and wife, Ovaleen of Panama City Beach; brother, Buster Thorne of Red Bay; four grandchildren, Becky Laird and husband Wyndol of Glendale, Fla., Ray McCormick and wife Cheryl of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Paula Jaillet and husband Paul of St. Augustine and Robert McCormick and wife Sonya of Red Bay; seven great-granchildren and one great-great grandchild. A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at Red Bay Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at Red Bay Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Burial will follow in Red Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Rushing, Jeremy Carter, Steven Laird, John Laird, Paul McCormick and Jeremy McVay.
