Mr. Farrar was a veteran of World War I and member of the Griffith-Newman Post 131, American Legion. He was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church.
Born June 5, 1900, in Nelson County, Mr. Farrar was a son of the late Samuel Thomas and Lillie Critzer Farrar.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Mayo Farrar; one son, Sgt. John A. Farrar, Gilbert, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. R. C. Tench, Richmond; Mrs. Thomas L. Campbell, Roseland; and Mrs. Doris Duncan, Afton; 15 grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Goodwin, Mrs. Etta Craun and Mrs. Clara Bush, all of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Russie Dodd, Afton; five brothers, Ollie F. Farrar, Afton; Carroll V. Farrar, Richmond; Harry S. Farrar, Luray; J. Paul Farrar, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Clarence H. Farrar, Clifton Forge.
Body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Friday when it will be placed in the Hebron Baptist Church. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Grafton E. Keeney. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Haywood Dameron, E. S. Fox Jr., John Rodes, John Neese, Edward Willis and Glen Pugh.
Flowerbearers will be nieces and nephews.
There will be no viewing of the body until Thursday.
