Memorial services for George H. Alexander, 74, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. Alexander died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Baldwin Care Center.
He was born March 16, 1927, in Richland, the son of James Benjamin Weaver and Elizabeth Fern (King) Alexander.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and Korea.
Mr. Alexander worked as a machine operator for Lawrence Paper Co. He retired in 1992.
He married Opal Wilder Jan. 7, 1950, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Michael D., Lawrence; two brothers, James K., Bakersfield, Calif., and Edward E., Lawrence; two sisters, Margaret M. Wingert and Emma Bryan, both of Lawrence; and a grandson.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
