Dorothea was born in Plantikow, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (now Bladkowo, Poland). She married Joachim Friedrich Degner on 23 June 1836 in Plantikow, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (now Bladkowo, Poland). Dorothea and her husband Joachim and their children left Plantikow, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (now Bladkowo, Poland), boarded the ship "Magdalene" at Bremen and arrived in New York on 14 June 1866. All of their children were born in Plantikow, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (now Bladkowo, Poland).

Krenke that Wilhelm's mother, Dorathea Krenke Degner, was one of the four Krenkes that came to Wisconsin in September of 1856. Her brother was Wilhelm Krenke and owned property across the road from this farm. Where Dorathea and her husband, Joachim Degner, lived or when they moved to Hebron, Nebraska, we do not know."
