William T Bailey for many years connected with newspaper work of Oakland died yesterday morning at his home 1551½ Broadway in that city, of consumption. The deceased came to Oakland thirty years ago and during his stay there had worked upon almost all the old-time journals. For some time he was foreman of the Vidette, and he also ran the West Oakland Star. Mr. Bailey was 56 years of age and leaves a wife and grown-up family. Some fifteen years ago Mr Bailey was employed in the Encinal office and later in the office of the Statesman (now Telegram), of this city.
