Askey Rites

Last rites were held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Seydler-Hill chapel for Mrs. Mrda Ramsey Askey, who died August 29 in Gonzales.

The Rev. Owen McGarity of the First Presbyterian church, officiated at the service with burial in the Askey cemetery.

Mrs. Askey was born in Gonzales on April 24, 1886, the daughter of James Whitson and Susan A. Matthews Ramsay, native Gonzaleans.

She married to Otho Walker Askey on October 11, 1911. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian church for some 80 years and had atended the Gonzales Public schools.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Fred C. (Frances) Young of Austin, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Vackar of Gonzales; one son, Jesse Ramsay Askey of San Saba; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Robert Young, Richard Young, William Brewster Brown, T. L. Karlos, William T. Miller and William P. Midkiff.
