Betty Fost Baker, nee Betty Jane Fost, age 96, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at her home in Bel Air, MD surrounded by her family. She was born February 17, 1920 in Hancock, MD. She resided in Aberdeen all her married life except for her last eight years which were spent at Avondell Retirement Community in Bel Air. Betty was the daughter of the late Edward P. Fost and Cora P. Fost of Hancock, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband George H. Baker, Jr. and also by her seven sisters and brothers. Betty was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving at the Navy Department in Washington D. C. during the war. She attended the University of Maryland where she studied Home Economics. It is there that she met George, her husband of 62 years. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and an accomplished homemaker. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen where she belonged to the Ann Kemper Circle. She is survived by her five children, Dr. G. Harold Baker III and wife Donna of Harrisonburg, VA, Deborah B. Richa of Sparks, MD, Elizabeth (Betsy) B. Lewis and husband Joseph of Bel Air, MD, Martha B. McEvoy and husband Al D. Grohs of Lawton, ND, and Thomas F. Baker and wife Minda of Bel Air, MD. She is survived by ten grandchildren: Matthew Baker, Jeffrey Baker, Peter Richa, Mark Richa, Andrew Baker, Virginia Baker, Michael Baker, CPT Jocelyn Lewis, PO3 Christopher McEvoy and Samuel Lewis. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 1st 2016, the Dr. Robert Clipp officiating. The family will receive visitors at 11:00 a.m. at the church parlor. Pallbearers are her eight grandsons. Interment will be at Baker Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 110 W. Bel Air Ave, Aberdeen, MD.
