MEAKINS, William Arthur August 13, 1930 - July 29, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Meakins, predeceased by parents Charles William and Alice Winifred Meakins and sister Alice Reynolds, following a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Ann Marie (Tatum) Meakins, children Jane Riddell (David), Kathie Byford (Bill), Will Meakins, Jeff Meakins and Robert Meakins (Camilla Willings), as well as grandchildren Rob Hughes (Ghazaleh Afshari), Jessica Hughes (Quoc Mai), Sarah Riddell, Kristen Oates, Kevin Oates (Breanne Longland), Will Meakins (Shareena Moorsaleen), Finn Meakins and Nate Meakins and great-grandchildren Owen Oates, and Jackson, Cole and Isabella Longland-Oates. Also fondly remembered by nieces Carole Moose, Diane Morgan and Stephanie Fingert and nephew Chuck Reynolds. Bill began his career in sales for Meakins Brush Co., then owned and operated Meakins Sales and Barton Paint and Wallpaper until the early 1990's, finally retiring at Barrett Interiors. While the family was growing up he enjoyed sailing and fishing at his cottage on Lake Baptiste. He was a very honest and loving husband and father who taught his children an excellent work ethic. He will be so missed. Bill has been cremated and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Thanks to Dr. Garland and the doctors and nurses at Joseph Brant Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Society Canada or Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation, would be appreciated.
