A biographical sketch of Ananias Tubbs is given in Centennial Proceedings, Northfield VT, by Hon. John Gregory; published Montpelier VT by Argus and Patriot Book and Job Printing House, page 101, as follows...
" Ananias Tubbs was a soldier of the Revolutionary War. He is listed under the command of Benedict Arnold, and marched under his command through the Wilderness of Maine, was wounded and taken prisoner at Quebec. He left his home after enlisting, without an hours notice, with orders to march in two days. Cold weather was coming on, his clothes were insufficient and he needed a pair of pants. His wife sheared the sheep, carded, spun, wove, cut and made him a pair of pants before she slept, so that he had warm pants to wear when it was time to leave."
Ananias Tubbs married twice. Name of first wife is unknown.
