OBIT: Margaret W. Knutson, age 88, of Millbrook, IL passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at her home. She was born on March 13, 1919 the daughter of Edmund and Allena (Callahan) Whitfield. Margaret was united in marriage on September 4, 1939 in Sandwich, IL to Raymond Knutson and they spent the next 49 happy years of their lives together until his passing on September 10, 1988. She was a fun loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Mrs. Knutson was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano, IL and its Parish Council. Margaret attended the Millbrook Grade School and was a 1937 graduate of Yorkville High School. She will be remembered as a professional Milner who during the 1950's and 1960's owned her own large business and taught hat making classes in her home. Mrs. Knutson was a Trustee on the Millbrook Village Board and was Chairman of its Land Use Plan Committee. Margaret was a member of the Sons of Norway, and was a Charter Member of the Norsk Rosemalers. She was a member of the Cattlemen's Beef Association. Margaret was also for many years a 4-H Leader and a longtime member of the Kendall County Homemakers. Over the years Margaret entertained many foreign visitors in her home. She is survived by her children, Stephen (Mary) Knutson of Evanston, IL and Mary Ann Doetschman of Yorkville, IL; her grandsons, Haakon Knutson of Chicago, IL, Peter Doetschman, and Brady Doetschman, both of Yorkville, IL; her brother-in-law, Dr. Leonard Richie of Chicago, IL; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Knutson Leifheit of Yorkville, IL; her many nieces and nephews; and her dear friends, Doug and Jo Pierce of Yorkville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Allena Whitfield; her husband, Raymond Knutson, and her son, David Knutson on September 7, 2002. A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Knutson will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano, IL with Father Matt Lamoureux M.I.C., officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk, IL. Friends may visit from 3 until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy., Yorkville, IL. Memorials in Margaret's name may be directed to the St. Mary's Building Fund or the Kendall County Historical Association.
