Agatha was born in Rich Fountain, Missouri to John Conrad Rehagen and Ida Mertens.

Agatha graduated from Linn High School in 1945. She became a secretary for the Missouri State Senate.

Agatha was married to Clarence Augustine Maasen on Aug. 23, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain, and they had four children.

Agatha Catherine Maasen, 92, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. Agatha was born on January 4, 1928, in Rich Fountain, Missouri, the daughter of the late John Conrad and Ida (Mertens) Rehagen. On August 23, 1947, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain, she married Clarence A. Maasen, who preceded her in death on December 11, 1997.

Agatha was a 1945 graduate of Linn High School. Agatha worked for the State of Missouri in various capacities and later as an administrative secretary in the State of Missouri Senate. Retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she was active in the auxiliary, the Holy Rosary Society, and prepared the altar flower arrangements, often with flowers from her own gardens. She also chaired their annual Christmas Bazaar. She enjoyed her days volunteering for St. Mary’s Auxiliary. While living at Heisinger Bluffs, Agatha loved getting people involved in activities, preparing table centerpieces, playing bingo. She was an avid card player and was considered the “Flower Doctor” for anyone who needed flower advice. She was also very active on their Welcoming Committee. Agatha’s joy was gardening and being outside working in her flower beds. She cherished her many friends who gathered to play cards, bingo, and socialize. Agatha and Clarence loved traveling. Their favorite trip was to Hawaii with several friends. Agatha loved to tell the story of picking up pineapples and touring the pineapple plant.

She is survived by four children, Sharon (Eric) Davis; Marilynn (Harvey) Marx, all of Jefferson City; Gala (Kenneth) Wiler, Holts Summit; and Gary (Lori) Maasen, St. Charles; grandchildren, Kimberly (Ted) Andert, St. Charles; Jennifer (Vaughn) Miller and Orrin Sanford, Chula Vista, California; Wyatt Sanford, Jefferson City; Dr. Kenna Marx, College Place, Washington; Cassie Wiler, Laclede; Brandon Wiler, Holts Summit; Ryan (Janissa) Maasen, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Kyle (Kate) Maasen, O’Fallon; Daniel (Anna) Maasen, Jackson; James (Leah) Maasen, St. Peters; Michael (Valerie) Maasen, St. Charles; two step-grandchildren, Ashlee (Darren) Binggeli, Ashland and Leigh Davis, Denver, Colorado; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Jonet) Rehagen, Osage Bend; a sister, Henrietta Luecke, Poplar Bluff; and many nieces and nephews.

Agatha was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Rehagen, a sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Paul Lamb, a brother Elias Rehagen, and a brother-in-law, Clarence Luecke.

Family would like to thank the staff at Heisinger Bluffs and St Mary’s Hospital for taking such exceptional care of our mother.

Private visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2020, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Private Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2020, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Louis Nelen officiating. The service will be recorded and posted to her obituary page following the mass. Facial coverings and social distancing are encouraged while in attendance. Burial will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
