Mr. Pine died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Harbor House.
Mr. Pine was born Aug. 9, 1915, in North Lawrence, the son of Roscoe and Katie May Pine.
He graduated from Lawrence High School and studied bookkeeping at Chillicothe Business College.
He was in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1944, when he was stationed in Guam.
Mr. Pine worked for John Deere in Lyons. He was the postmaster at the Lyons post office for 30 years.
He married Helen Kampschroeder on Nov. 27, 1937. She died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Dulny, Lenexa; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Velma Skinner, Lawrence.
