"Dr. Miles Standish Banks Fairbury -- Dr. Miles Standish Banks, 95, Fairbury, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997. He was born Jan. 30 1902, at Pleasant Dale and married Myrl Elizabeth Hardin on July 24, 1926. He was a 1930 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a doctor of dental science degree. He worked in Alma one year before moving to Fairbury, where he practiced dentistry until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of Xsi Psi Phi dental fraternity, Elks Lodge, Blue Lodge, York Rite, Shrine and the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors: son, George of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Barbara Carter of Fairbury, brother Robert A. Banks of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Betty Calkins of Rifle, Colo.; grandchildren, Hank Greaves, Carrie Greaves and Greg Blount of Seattle, Wash., Mike and Suzzette Greaves of Poway, Calif., Richard and Jennifer Carter of Medford, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Russell M. Blount, Taylor M. Greaves, Kaitlyn J. Carter; nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrl; parents, Arville G. and Sarah (Schlachter) Banks; daughter, Georgeanne; and sisters, Vera and Dorothy.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, Presbyterian Church, Fairbury, the Rev. Gail Cross officiating. Burial of cremains in Denver, Colo., t a later date, Memorials to family choice, Nuckolls-Meyer Funeral Home, Fairbury, Neb."
