On Monday, November 23rd, 2020, Gregory Warren Jones was called home at the age of 51. The world has lost a great father, son, brother and friend. Greg was born on May 27, 1969, in Springfield, MO.
He is a graduate of Mansfield High School (Class of 1988) as well as the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK where he earned his Airframe and Power-plant mechanics certification. Greg would go on to make a career in the explosives industry working for various companies over his 25-year career.
It was in his final career that he was able to see the world. Visiting 3 continents and traveling to every state in the nation with any significant mining presence. However, Greg’s love of the water and the outdoors kept him in the state of Missouri most of his life from Mansfield to Blue Springs and ultimately settling in Marthasville. Greg was never more than an hour or two from one of the major lakes in Missouri where you would find him on any given weekend throughout the late spring, summer and early fall. Whether he was catfishing, pulling tubes or enjoying the evening around the campfire, he could always be found with a smile on his face and a story or a joke to tell.
Greg married Amber McMillan on December 13, 1997. Together they welcomed daughter Emily Nicole Jones into the world. Greg was proud and excited to welcome Emily into the world to join him for a lifetime of adventures. Emily was Greg’s consummate partner on the water where she learned to share his love of the water from a very early age. Greg was always proud to point out that she could load a boat better and faster than any man twice her age.
In addition to Emily, Greg is survived by his mother and step father, Jack and Alice Kay Ritter; brother and sister-in-law Jared & Therese Jones; niece Grace Jones; Rick and Debbie Ritter; Beth & Steve Ellis; Lisa Ritter, Tina & Steve Drake and Sheila & Jimmy Capreli. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Warren Jones.
