JULIA CLARKE COHEN – DIES IN ATLANTA HOME
Atlanta, December 29, 1940 – Mrs. Julia Clark Cohen widow of Maj. John S. Cohen, former United States Senator and one-time president and editor of the Atlanta Journal, died today at her home after an illness of several weeks. She was 70 years old.
A native of Atlanta she was the daughter of Robert Campbell Clarke and Mary Lowry. She married Maj. Cohen November 11, 1897. He died in 1935.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Jean Bienvenu of Atlanta; a daughter-in-law Mrs. John S. Cohen, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery by the side of her husband and her son, the late John S. Cohen, Jr.
