Shirley J. "Louie" Barner, of Two Rivers passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Angelus Senior Living in Manitowoc.


Shirley was born to the late William and Violet (Popelka) Ouradnik.

She was a graduate of Washington High School with the Class of 1955. 


She married Allan "Barney" Barner on October 6, 1956 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Two Rivers.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 2019.


Shirley had worked at Crescent Woolen Mills, Mirro and lastly Paragon before her retirement.  She also had done embroidery for uniforms in her home for many years.  Shirley was an avid snowmobiler, loved to camp, had played Dart ball for years, did gardening and a lot of home canning and was a member of the Senior Center in Two Rivers for years. She was an excellent cook and baker making many holidays memories. She did ceramics for years making many beautiful creations for her family and friends.  She also loved to crochet.


Shirley was survived by her children, Scott Barner (Brenda Sauve) and Sue (Mike) Holzer; one sister Joan (Harlas) Luckow; one brother Melvin Ouradnik; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Violet Ouradnik; her husband, Allan "Barney" Barner; her son Terry "Evel" Barner; her siblings, Norma (Archie) Brouchoud, Lorraine (Leonard) Reno, William (Alvina) Ouradnik, Helen (Eugene) Peters, Jack (Mary Ellen) Ouradnik, Evelyn (Harold) Hammerberg, Tom (Gertrud) Ouradnik, Hazel
Arneman, Mary Ann Landt, Jane Kracht, Shirley Ouradnik, Gary (Sandy) Ouradnik; her in-laws,  George & Leona (Coenen) Barner, Howard & Phyllis Barner, Roger & Marilyn Barner; and many other relatives.


Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Lakeshore Family Funeral Home, Klein & Stangel location (1420 22nd Street), Two Rivers.  Burial took place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers following services.  The family greeted relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:30 a.m.


Memorial donations in Shirley's honor may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, Woodland Dunes or the charity of choice.


The family wishes to extend a special Thank you to her two special nieces, Audrey & Jayne, and the staff at Angelus Senior Living and Sharon Richardson hospice for the care and compassion shown to Shirley and her family.
