He was born Sept. 26, 1899, a son of Andrew and Mary Keiser Cooney.
On Sept. 18. 1923 he married Geraldine Bush in St. Michael's Church, Mohawk Hill.
Mr. Cooney worked at Savage Arms during World War II and later was employed by Kelsey-Hayes Co. for 21 years before he retired in 1966. He was a member of St. Paul's Church and its Holy Name Society, the Whitestown Senior Citizens and the International Association of Machinists.
Besides his wife he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. C. Donald (Rosemary) Zearfoss, Wayland, Mass.; Mrs. Donald (Jane) Hiller, Clinton; Mrs. Donald (Kathleen) Poe, Redlands, Calif; Mrs. John (Tita) Lavoie, Cohasset, Mass.; Frances Hock, Whitesboro. and Mrs. Adam (Carolyn) Partyka, Utica; three sons, Andrew J., and David, both of Whitesboro and Edward J. Cooney, Utica, and two brothers, Cortis J., Buffalo, and W. Francis Cooney, Darien, Conn.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Rome Daily Sentinel, Friday Evening, December 8, 1972
