James Coy Godby, 75 years of age, of Science Hill, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

James was born in Somerset, Kentucky on February 8th, 1945, son of the late Richard and Ethel Godby. He was a devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Science Hill, Kentucky, of which he was a Deacon for 49 years and the Church Clerk for 52 years. He was also a volunteer Fire Fighter for 52 years in Science Hill and served in the United States Army from September 14th, 1965 until July 10th, 1967. He retired from Prairie Farm Dairy.

James was survived by one son, Jeff Godby (and Fiancè, Cheryl Nantz) of Stanford, Kentucky; three daughters, Melissa (and Bob) Archer of Somerset, Kentucky, Pam Middleton of Science Hill, Kentucky, and Becky (and Greg) Greer of Waynesburg, Kentucky; one sister, Virginia Anderson of Somerset, Kentucky; six grandchildren, James Allen, Rickie, Brittany, Trevor, Faith, and Craig; one great-grandson, Mason Alexander Godby; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Godby, who departed this life on August 5th, 1974 and Ethel Godby, who departed this life on November 2nd, 1974; his loving wife of 52 years, Linda "Kay" Jones Godby, whom he married on October 14th, 1967 and who departed this life on October 15th, 2019; one brother, Lloyd Curtis "Curt" Godby, who departed this life on January 28th, 1989; one sister, Myrtle Stringer; and one granddaughter, Amber.

Private services were held on Sunday, November 29th, 2020 in the Chapel of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Evans officiating.

Live streaming of the services was available at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29th, 2020 on the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home Facebook Page.

Drive-thru services were held at 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, November 29th, 2020 at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, all participants were ask to arrive and line up at the directional signage by 2:40 p.m. on Sunday in the parking lot, and were kindly ask to remain in there vehicle, and observe all social distancing guidelines as set forth by the CDC.

Burial followed in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Science Hill, Kentucky.
