The following item will be of much interest to Stamfordites as the bride is a sister of our oldest resident, the widow of Eli M. Blood. Mr. and Mrs. Joel Johnson of West Brattleboro observed their 60th wedding anniversary January 22 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. H. Thurber as guests at a small dinner party. A son, Howard A. Johnson of Brookline, Mass., was also present. Mr. Johnson was born in Stamford Nov. 6, 1855 and Miss Jennie A. Ames of Hannel Center, N. Y., (born January 22, 1861) were married in Stanford, January 22, 1880 at the home of the bride's brother-in-law and sister, the Late Eli M. and Mrs. Francelia Ames Blood. Mrs. Blood and Mrs. Johnson are the only survivors of a large family. Mr. Johnson is an honorary deacon of the Baptist Church in West Brattleboro for life.

Joel Strong Johnson, 92, of 403 Western Avenue, died Saturday afternoon at the home of his grandson, Stuart J. Thurber on the Ames Hill Road, after a short illness. Mr. Johnson had been in poor health for the past year. He was born in Stamford, Vt., Nov. 6, 1855, a son of Milo and Electa (Field) Johnson. His boyhood was spent in his native town and there he married on Jan. 22, 1880 Jennie M. Ames, who died in 1946. A year after their marriage the couple came to Brattleboro, buying a farm on the Upper West Dummerston Road. Mr. Johnson later accepted a position as farm foreman in Fishers Island, N. Y., and the couple stayed there 15 years, returning to Brattleboro in 1918. Mr. Johnson then bought his present home, where he had lived ever since. He worked over 10 years at the former Smith and Hunt toy manufacturing paint before retiring. Mr. Johnson was a member of the West Brattleboro Baptist Church, serving several years as church deacon. He held the title of honorary deacon. Surviving are a sone, Howard A. Johnson of Pittsfield, Mass., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Rohde's Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p. m., with Rev. Bennett Curtis officiating. The body will be entombed until the spring when burial will be in the West Brattleboro Cemetery.
