Henry was the son of Jesse King and Catherine Sivey. He married Margaret Anne Slusser, Miranda Jolly, and Anna L. Conklin. Henry's first wife Margaret died a few months after their marriage at the age of 22. He and his second wife Miranda were the parents of William H., James W., Charles F., and John W. After Miranda's death, he married Anna Conklin, and they were the parents of Frances Marie (or May).

Henry served in the Civil War, in CO F, 99th OH Vol. Inf. He was discharged with a disability in February 1863, due to a bullet wound to his ankle that he received at the Battle of Stones River near Murfreesboro, TN.

Henry was a farmer and a carpenter.
