Charles Louis de Lorraine, Duc de Joyeuse. He died in Italy while his family was exiled from France. Originally buried there, he was reinterred in the ancestral burial ground at the Collégiale Saint-Laurent in Joinville. Following its destruction, his ashes and those of his family members were reinterred in the Cimetière Chapelle Sainte Anne in Joinville.

Gravesite Details

He was originally interred in the Collégiale Saint-Laurent in Joinville. During the French Revolution it was destroyed. The tombs were desecrated and in 1792 the ashes they contained were transported to this location.
