Walter Osick was born 3 Aug 1893 to Andrew Osick and Scholastyka "Mary" (Ostrowienski) Osick in Poland. His family immigrated through an old German port on their way to the United States. Walter Osick was naturalized in New Jersey (a state that he claimed as his "birthplace").
As a young boy, Walter was expected to work and earn money. He was only 7-9 years old when he got a job (a "sweat shop")in a pickle factory. His fingers and hands were so small that he could pack a bottle full of raw cucumbers with the full speed of others on the factory line. He kept a strong work ethic all of his life! Walter had a strong belief that he wanted to live by the principles of freedom in his new country. He called the state where he was naturalized in the states as his actual place of his of birth. His naturalization papers were located with his other important papers at the time of his death. These papers stated Poland as his place of birth! He lived the values of his citizenship all the days of his life! He studied United States history and at the proper age joined the US Army. His allegiance was to his God, family and country. Walter Osick joined the US Army and served in World War I. Walter prepared to defend his country at all costs! He qualified and served as a professional in the military as a Master Sargent at West Point, New York. He married Rose Ciccone 05 July 1930 in Newburgh, Orange, New York. Walter lived in California and in Washinton, DC after his retirement. He had one son, four grandchildren and today he has fourteen great grandchildren that carry on his legacy. C Mc
