Paul, the seven year-old son of Congressman and Mrs. W.H. Gest, died at 2 o'clock this morning at the home of his parents, 1203 Second avenue, of diphtheria, with which the little fellow was stricken last wednesday. Drs. Craig, Wyster and Plummer were all called in, and everything possible was done to check the ravages of the disease, but without avail, and the little sufferer found relief only in death. Paul was an unusually bright child, very well known and beloved by all. His death is a terrible blow to his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Gest have four other children, living but none are so far afflicted with the disease.
