Vayle grew up in the Fairfield Community on a farm south of Sedgewick. He attended school there through the 10th grade, attended Holyoke High School his junior year, and went to Sedgewick High School his senior year. He worked many different jobs – farmer, ranching, mechanic at Fort Warren Air Force Base, volunteer fireman and John Deere Implement owner in Oshkosh, NE, and a 4-H leader. Vayle was a brand inspector for over 20 years for the State of Colorado. They lived in Morgan County from 1986 until moving to Colorado Springs in 2004 to be closer to family.
