Royce H. Valder was born in Bancroft July 14, 1883, died in Omaha October 11, 1918, aged 35 years, 2 months and 27 days. He graduated from the Bancroft High -School on June 3,: 1899, and attended the state university, going from there to Omaha to accept a position with M. E. Smith Co., with whom he was connected for several years. In the year 1910 he went to Minneapolis, Minn., to accept a position with the Capper & Capper wholesale house. On August 5, 1914, he was married to Miss Rilla Levings of New Richmond, Wisconsin, who is left to mourn his untimely death. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. C. L. Kramer, and two sisters, Mrs. H. C. Barton and Mrs. R. H. Lewis of Omaha. In the spring of 1917 he went to Sherwood, S. D., to take charge of a general store, giving up this position last May, going to Albion, Neb., to take up similar work so he could be nearer home. On the 5th of September he and his wife went to Omaha to Visit relatives and took sick with Spanish influenza which developed into pneumonia, and from which he never recovered. The body was brought to Bancroft Monday morning and taken to the cemetery; the Masonic lodge conducting the burial service. Deceased was a member of Covert lodge of Omaha. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow. Relatives from out of town present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Lewis and H. C. Barton of Omaha, Mrs. Ed Valder and sons Clarence, Henry and Oscar, and Mrs. Lock [sic] of Tekamah, Mrs. Ole Baker and Miss Nettie Baker, and Mr. and Mrs. Barton of Pender.
