"Samuel W. Ross, age 86, of Tonawanda, died June 25, 1999 in Riverwood Health Care Center, Grand Island.

Born in DuBois, Pa., on February 17, 1913 to John and Letitia (Williams) Ross. Moved to Western New York at age 12. Served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. He was employed at Fedders Corp., Buffalo for 40 years and was a member of the Tonawanda Post 264 American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel (Springer) Ross; children; Terry Cervi of Kenmore, Timothy Ross of North Tonawanda; sisters Kate Briggs of Sanborn, Dorothy Scott of Amherst, Ann Gentzke of Tonawanda, Nancy Thorpe of Lancaster, Marion Ziegler of Town of Tonawanda, Jesse Garrity of Tonawanda; four grandchildren, Lauren, Heather, Rebecca and Timothy Jr.; predeceased by two brothers, John and William Ross and three sisters, Florence Ross, Iona Balls and Janet Ross.

Friends may all Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 Morgan Street, Tonawanda, where services will be held on Monday, June 28 at 11 AM. Interment Acacia Park." Buffalo News, June 27, 1999
