It is with profound sadness that we announce that Katherine Zenovia Sametz passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at home, after a battle with an aggressive and painful cancer. Katherine was an extremely talented, sensitive, beautiful, and giving woman.
Beloved daughter of Rosalia Sametz and the late William Sametz. She leaves behind her devoted children Alexandra(Sasha)Jarosil(Edward Williams), James Jarosil and blessed granddaughter Klara Rose. Dear sister of Gloria Chewchuk(Walter),
Teta(aunt) to Katya Chewchuk and the late Willy Chewchuk.
Katherine was a talented concert pianist who debuted at 16 with Arthur Fiedler, Boris Brott and the Hamilton Philharmonic. She donated her talent to many events in the community.
Later in life, she pursued a career in teaching and became a beloved primary school teacher who made an impact on countless colleagues and students.
She loved her Ukrainian heritage and her Faith. Katherine was the granddaughter of a pioneer priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, The Very Rev. Dr. Peter Sametz and Dobr Katherine.
