Lucinda was the daughter of John Goode and Ann Freeman Goode of Abbeville District South Carolina and she married a Mr McLemore of Edgefield, South Carolina and removed to Courtland, Alabama. She was a sister of Talitha Goode Watkins Sherrod who had married Coleman Watkins and Col Benjamin Sherrod.

In the name of God amen, I Samuel Goode of the District of Edgefield and the State of South Carolina, Planter, being in good health and perfect memory (blessed be God therefore) make and publish this my last Will and testament in manner following (that is to say) I give to my loving wife Anna Goode during her natural life the following Negroes (to say) Billy, Jack and Ann -- and during her Widowhood I also leave to her Tom and Dina for the better support of herself and such of my Children that may be under her care and likewise all my Stock of Cattle, Sheep, and Hoggs, -- and in case of her marriage it is my desire that my executors will the said two Negroes Tom and Dina for the maintenance and education of my four youngest daughters (Viz) Betsy and Anna, Tillitha and Lucinda and I also leave unto my said wife during her widowhood the use of the Plantation --whereon I now live and the plantation tools belonging thereto -- and I also leave unto her for the better support of herself and my four Children above named and also for the support and education of my two sons John and Freeman the following Horse Creatures (to say) Shadow Poll, Scipio, Jack and Linnett -- the increase whereof it is my desire shall be equally divided amongst my said children above named -- and I also give to them three Colts which with their increase I desire may be Equally divided among them (Viz) one yellow bay mare Colt (Poll's) -- and it is my desire that four hundred Dollars shall be paid to my daughter Sally Martin out of the crops that may be raised on my plantation -- And I give to my daughter Frances Burt two Negro Girls now in her possession (to say) Sarah and Matilda and also one Negro boy named Charles. -- And I give to my daughter Betsy two Negro Girls (to say) Milly and Ruth -- and to my daughter Anna two Negro Girls named Jude and Mary -- and I give to my daughter Tallitha and Lucinda one Negro Woman named Cressey who with her future increase it my desire be equally divided between them and it is also my desire that the increase of Dina shall be equally divided between Tillitha and Lucinda.

I give to my son John a negro boy named Nathan and one Negro Girl named Sarah -- and to my son Freeman I give a negro boy named Solomon and also one Girl named Rachel, -- and it is my Will and desire that in case any of my Children (I mean those unmarried) Should die before they come of age or without lawfull issue -- that his or her part or parts shall be equally divided among the Surviving Children now unmarried --- And it is also my Will and desire that all the Lands belonging to me in this District Shall be equally divided between my said Sons John and Freeman -- And one other Tract of Land known by the name Hughe's Tract on a branch of the Six and twenty Mile Creek, and one Steed Horse nam'd Piercy I commit in trust to my after nam'd Executors to be by them applied for the use and benefit of my Daughter Betsy, Anna, Tillitha and Lucinda. And it is also my desire that after receipt of the Debts due to me and the payment of those I owe, and after the Sale of the old Tobacco I now have on hand, the residue if any there be, be applied toward the education of my Six youngest Children. And I constitute and ordain my said Wife Anna Goode, Edward Burt and Reeves Martin Executors of this my last Will. -- In witness whereof I the said Samuel Goode have to this last Will and Testament Set my hand and Seal the twenty third day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and in the twenty fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America. -----------
