Daughter of William Albert Nolan and Barbara Ann (Plog) Nolan; Sister of Ethel May (Weindel) Nolan, Julius Gerald Nolan (twin), Milton Paul Nolan and Harold William Nolan; Wife of Charles Raymond Motzer whom she married on 2-4-1924 in Edwardsville, Illinois; Mother of Betty Jean (Rea) Motzer and Nina Marie (Lurkins) Motzer.

Her Mother died when she was only 8 and over the next years she was basically a mother to her three brothers. Her sister also died at a young age. William Nolan was in the State Hospital at Alton, Illinois. Julia had worked at Demoulin Brothers in Greenville, they are one of the largert makers of Band Uniforms in the world. She was grandmother of six, Jean (Lurkins) Doll, Alan Lurkins, Bradley Lurkins, David Rea, Jan (Rea) Hablitzel and Douglas Rea, Sr.
