Maude Brown Alkire -- Funeral services for Maude Brown Alkire, a Phoenix resident 64 years, were held Monday in Hermosa Beach, California. Mrs. Alkire, 83, died in the California town town on Friday, Aug. 5, where she was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Martha Bolte. Mrs. Alkire came to Phoenix when she was 18 years old from Cairo, Ill. She was a charter member of the Phoenix Woman's Club and a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church. he resided at 814 N Sixth St. Besides Mrs. Bolte, she is also survived by a son Paul L. Alkire of Phoenix, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Theo. Newman of Cloverdale, Calif. (Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona, Sunday, 14 Aug 1955, page 9)
