Ishpeming- Mark D. Stampee, age 56, of 757 Cooper Lake Rd. Ishpeming, MI, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at UP Health System Marquette, where he had been a patient since November 14, 2020.

Mark was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on June 5, 1964, a son of Barbara M. (Dushane) Stampee, and the late Gerald Julius Stampee.

Mark graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1982. He served his country honorably for 20 years in the U.S. Army. He served in Dessert Storm, at the time of his honorable discharge he was a Staff Sergeant First Class Medic, who received numerous decorations and awards for the country he served.

While in the service he lived in many locations including Colorado where he lived for 15 years owning a real estate company. The UP was always home, and he eventually returned to Ishpeming and worked for RE/MAX for a short period of time before retiring.

Mark enjoyed trapping as a youngster, hunting and fishing, and playing cribbage. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan, who would always remove his hat and stand for the National Anthem. Mark was always telling stories, had a joke to share, and would have a nickname for everyone he knew.

Mark is survived by the love of his life of the past 9 years Kathy Maynard, his mother Barbara Stampee, 2 brothers: Gregory (Kathy) Stampee and Jeffrey (Darlene) Stampee all of Ishpeming, nieces and nephews: Jeffrey (Ashley) Stampee, Ashley M. Stampee, Alicia Stampee, Michael (Hilary) Stampee, many cousins, his extended family whom they referred to him as Papa Mark, Amanda (John) Wright, and their children T-Bone and Princess Tessa, Derrick (Kaylin) Maynard and Kennedy, Terry "Nibster" Morcom, along with numerous friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Jerry Stampee, Grandparents John and Irene Stampee, Leona and John Kurian, mother-in-law Judy "Judester" Morcom along with several aunts and uncles.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions a private service will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. Ryan Ford officiating.

A Celebration of Mark's life will be held at a future date.
