Gale Henson was born in Kentucky. He was a carpenter and a farmer. He married Nancy Shields who was a native of Indiana. Together they had a family of twelve children: William, Isaac, Mary, Gale C., Jr., Meda, Minnie, Ale, John, Henry, Larry and Thomas. The family lived in Platte County prior to Clay County. Mr Henson built the South Gale School in Platte County which bears his name. He was once the Mayor of Holt, Missouri. He also led an unsuccessful expedition to recover barrels of whiskey which were buried with the sinking of the riverboat the Francis X Aubrey.
