Brandon Quinn O’Sullivan of San Diego, California, formerly of Rye, N.Y., died suddenly July 2, 2018. He was 29 years old.

A 2007 graduate of Rye High School, where his love for dramatic arts was born, Brandon received a Bachelor of Science in Theater at Skidmore College in 2011. He was entering his third year pursuing a Master’s in Fine Arts in Acting at University of California, San Diego, and loved every moment of it, the highs and the lows.

Passionate about acting, he’d more recently discovered a talent for teaching acting to undergraduate students at UCSD. His most recent performance was as Chris in a student production of “SERE”, a new play by Ava Geyer. He was thrilled by the challenges posed by his roles in “Streamers”, the “Green Cockatoo”, and other performances in the past two years. He loved and appreciated working with such an array of talented actors, writers, directors, musicians, and producers in his time in UCSD.

In February 2019, he was due to be in residence at The La Jolla Playhouse in the world premiere of the musical “Diana”, directed by Chris Ashley. Brandon was tremendously excited at the prospect of acting and singing in this production as it was being developed. He was living his dream.

Brandon O’Sullivan will be forever loved and remembered by his parents, Ita and David, his brothers, Francis and Gavin, his sister-in-law Janet, and his two nieces Maeve and Cara. His extended family in Ireland, Europe, and Southeast Asia all mourn his loss. Brandon’s friends, the faculty, students and staff in the UCSD Theater program will miss him for his kindness and compassion and his love and commitment to the theater.
