Larry Gene Kerr, 67, of OKC passed from this life on June 19, 2020 in Tulsa, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral Service and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 11am, at the Advantage Chapel, located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania in S. OKC.
Larry was born on August 23, 1952 in OKC to Kenneth "Pat" and Oleta (Robbins) Kerr. He was raised in OKC and graduate in 1970 from John Marshall High School. He attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Larry left OSU early to return to the city to help run his father's machine shop in downtown OKC. In October of 1973 he married Pamela Joyce Bridgens and together they raised three sons, Michael, Sean, and Ryan, during their 35 years of marriage.
In the late 1970's, Larry started a long career in the insurance industry. He earned multiple designations and he specialized in health and property and casualty insurance. He spent several years working for Abide Insurance Agency, before starting Grand Lake Insurance in Grove, OK. He also owned the Coney Island restaurant in Grove for several years. When he was not working, Larry enjoyed playing golf, playing his guitar and banjo, grilling or smoking meat, and being out on Grand Lake with his family or friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Pat Kerr and his brother Kendall Kerr. He is survived by his mother Oleta Kerr; three sons: Michael Kerr, Sean Kerr and wife Melissa, and Ryan Kerr and wife Meleaia; a brother Marlin Kerr and wife Rhonda; six grandchildren: Aiden Kerr, Harrison Kerr, Kaylee Kerr, Conner Kerr, Tristen Kerr, and Cody Byers; a great granddaughter Hannah Byers; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.
